Blue Cabin has expanded its team of Trustees with the appointment of Wendy Price OBE, Head of Widening Access and Participation at the University of Sunderland.
In 2016, Wendy launched the award-winning We Care programme which nurtures, develops and supports care-experienced students throughout their life at university.
She is Co-Chair of the National Strategy Group for National Network for the Education of Care Leavers, working with national education providers, networks, charities and other organisations to transform the opportunities available to care-experienced young people.
Wendy is also Chair of the Board of Governors at Sunderland Virtual School, which provides personal learning support for care-experienced young people to ensure they receive the best education and learning experiences possible.
And in 2022 she was awarded an OBE for services to Higher Education, attending Windsor Castle in early 2023 to receive her OBE from King Charles.
“I’ve long been an admirer of the important work Blue Cabin do to nurture and support care-experienced children and young people, so I’m extremely proud to be joining the team as a Trustee. I’m looking forward to bringing my experience and passion to help Blue Cabin on the next stage of their journey,” said Wendy.

She brings with her more than 20 years’ experience in supporting care-experienced young people to succeed in education and, like all of our board members, she prioritises kindness, commitment and care, and sees the potential in every care-experienced person.”
From July, Blue Cabin Trustee, Catherine Hearne, will take on the new role of Joint Vice Chair, supporting existing Vice Chair, Mark Dibble, and Chair, Adam Kent, who has recently relocated to Bristol.
