Arts Award is a nationally-recognised accreditation which supports young people to:
There are five Arts Award levels: Discover, Explore, Bronze, Silver and Gold.
We offer Discover and Explore Arts Award as an optional way for care-experienced children and young people, aged 7-14 years, to gain recognition for their creative learning and progression.
Optional
Children and young people are always given the choice of whether they want to take part in an Arts Award project, and it is offered when it can support confidence, creativity, and recognition of participation.
Trauma-informed
Arts Award is always embedded within our trauma-informed, relationship-based practice.
Expert-led
The Blue Cabin team includes two Arts Award advisers, Jane Gray and Amy Armstrong. We are also a Trinity Champion Centre, recognised by Trinity College London for our successful delivery of Arts Award.

You can choose from four Arts Award packages, all designed for care-experienced children aged from 7 to 14.
Discover in a Day
A one-day session, ideal for children and young people who might struggle to commit to something longer-term. Using this model, children and young people can achieve Arts Award Discover in one day, which could be a Saturday, Sunday or during the school holidays.
Discover in a Half Term
Six half-day sessions build in a bit more time for development of skills, relationships and confidence. Again, this might be ‘off timetable’ time during school time, after school, or weekends.
Explore Intensive
This is a four-day programme, which could take place during school holidays, ‘off timetable’ days during school time or at weekends. Full days (for example, 10am to 3pm) would be needed.
Explore in a Term
12 half-day sessions include more time for development of skills, relationships and confidence. This might be ‘off timetable’, time during school time, after school, or weekends.
Play and Create, Gateshead (Explore Intensive package)
Children from Gateshead Virtual School worked alongside professional artists to invent characters and worlds from their imaginations, get an insight into creative careers, and find out about their local cultural venues. Read more.
Creative days with Nottingham Virtual School (Discover in a Day package)
Six young people from Nottingham achieved their Arts Award Discover after a day of acting, mask-making and performance. Read more.
Redcar and Cleveland Virtual School (Arts Award Discover package)
Children aged between 7 and 11 explored theatre and mask-making over six weeks, showcasing their work to parents, carers and siblings in a creative workshop. Read more.
