Environmental sustainability is a priority for Blue Cabin. It is important to us to play our part in reducing emissions and help bring about positive environmental change. We recognise that there is a global climate emergency, and that we live in a world of great inequality.

We are committed to working with our Board, staff, freelancers, volunteers, suppliers, funders and external stakeholders to ensure we consider and communicate the environmental, social and economic impacts of our activities.

Training and Support
Blue Cabin is committed to training for our staff, freelancers, trustees and volunteers. We will continue to identify training opportunities to support our environmental understanding and development.
Nature, Biodiversity and Wellbeing
We consider outdoor or nature-connected venues where appropriate; encourage use of natural light and green spaces in delivery; and support staff wellbeing through access to nature-based environments where possible.
Data Collection and Measuring Impact
We will measure, where possible: digital emissions/data storage, procurement and materials, waste produced at events, and business travel emissions. We will set realistic annual reduction targets and report progress in our annual review.
Materials and Equipment
We are committed to moving towards more environmentally friendly materials and equipment within our work, reducing and removing any plastics-based materials where possible.
Supplies and services (including IT and data storage)
We will take a proportionate, digital-first approach, reducing unnecessary digital waste while ensuring systems remain safe, accessible and fit for purpose.
Travel
We aim for the best available travel option rather than perfection, recognising that safety, safeguarding and access must come first.
We will aim to share, and promote the positive environmental actions we are taking with colleagues, project partners, funders and participants. We will share our environmental policy and action plan, along with other actions we are taking through this dedicated Environment section of our website, and social media (you can find Blue Cabin on LinkedIn).
We will aim to be purposeful about our environmental intentions with partners, funders and participants.
