Everything we do at Blue Cabin is with an awareness of the impact trauma can have on the care-experienced children and young people who are at the centre of our work.
We’ve worked hard to ensure that an awareness of trauma is embedded throughout the organisation and are so happy to share that this has been recognised, through a Bronze Working with Trauma quality mark, awarded by One Small Thing.
Blue Cabin’s strategic lead, Dawn Williams, explains more: “The team at One Small Thing are experts on trauma-informed working and working towards this accreditation has helped us revisit and review how we ensure the emotional safety of the people we work with – from the children and young people our programmes support to the staff, freelancers and volunteers who are so important to Blue Cabin.”
One Small Thing’s quality marks are a national benchmark for trauma-informed best practice and draw on global standards, principles, and values associated with trauma-informed working practices.
Blue Cabin has achieved the Working with Trauma Bronze quality mark, becoming part of a community of organisations which are committed to working in a trauma-informed way.
Jenny Young, director of Blue Cabin, added: “Achieving this quality mark is as a result of a rigorous process of reviewing and evidencing our processes across all of Blue Cabin, from the venues we use to the way we recruit and support our team. It’s been such a valuable experience.”
