This collection of early years songs has been created by Carol Bowden and Katie Doherty, as part of a project for care experienced children and young people and their adults in Darlington called This is the Place. It is funded by Youth Music, County Durham Community Foundation, Creative Darlington and Darlington Borough Council.
Our host Dawn Williams, welcomes musicians Carol Bowden and Katie Doherty to our podcast to talk about This is the Place: a new programme bringing music-making to care-experienced children aged 0-5 years and their carers in Darlington.
How can we use music to help care-experienced babies and children develop and strengthen relationships?
Hosted by Dawn Williams, this special podcast shares learning from a music-making project in Darlington called This is The Place, and we hear from Blue Cabin Trustees – musician Eleanor Mooney, and Dr Ryan Humphrey who is a researcher in community music and cultural policy.
In this wonderful film created by Anya Media and featuring Carol and Katie, you can find out about the Hows and Whys of early years music-making.
We have created this short film for those with babies and young children to share our ideas about why we sing and make music with babies and children. We hope you enjoy it and feel more confident, knowing that whatever way you make music with your little ones, you are doing such an important thing in being playful and musical with them.
The songs featured in the film, are featured in the playlist at the top of the page.
