Eight children from Gateshead Virtual School, aged between 7 and 11, took part in a day of environment-themed printmaking activities, with Blue Cabin Associate Artist Michelle Wood and artist Sara Cooper.
Games and hands-on creativity underpinned the day, with the group having the chance to print and make items including seed packets, bunting and flags using a range of print techniques and materials. They also planted seeds into their own handmade newspaper pots, taking them home to germinate.

Children and young people who took part in the day said:
“I thought [nature] was boring, but now I’ve changed my mind as I think it can change the planet. No one should judge the way nature is.”
“I overcame my fear of coming. I was nervous as I didn’t know anyone.”
Virtual school staff said:
“It gave them space to develop and be themselves.”
“They’ve gone away feeling proud.”
