Funded by the Adoption Support Fund, Blue Cabin worked in partnership with South Tyneside Council to create a brand new Feelings Creative Resource for children and young people under Special Guardian Orders.
South Tyneside Council work with children and young people under Special Guardianship Orders and their carers, providing support, guidance and training.
The aim of this project was to support children and young people to explore, discuss and manage their feelings, particularly in relation to the Covid-19 emergency.
Working in partnership with South Tyneside Council and alongside a fabulous team of creative practitioners including Elena Miller (Starbright Arts), Michelle Wood (Sea Tern Print) and Nicola Golightly, a range of creative packs were designed (one per month across August, September and October 2020) and were hand delivered to over 40 children, between the ages of 0-14.
The content of packs included Pockets of Feelings: helping children to collect and share their emotions, with concertina pockets book, colour cards and emotions bunting and Coping with Change: helping children to explore emotions associated with changes in their lives, with air dry clay, making handprints and emotions bowls.
You can download a copy of the final report from the related Resource page.
The families who received the Feel Creative Packs have been sharing a range of fantastic photos with each other and with us. The photos show the wonderful range of things they have made together.
We would love to talk with you about bringing this project to your Local Authority or Virtual School.
