Creative facilitation for care experienced people

A funded training programme in Creative Facilitation for care leavers.

A funded training programme in Creative Facilitation for care leavers.

Creative facilitation is about creating safe and inclusive spaces where everyone’s voice is heard.

Being a confident and creative facilitator is a valuable skill that can support young people in future employment, training, and community settings.

Blue Cabin and Durham University Institute for Medical Humanities are together delivering a funded training programme to three cohorts of care-experienced adults aged 18-25 across the UK. The first cohort took place in Durham, the second will be in Manchester, and the third in Bristol.

We recognise that care-experienced young adults bring unique strengths, perspectives, and resilience – and are well-placed to become brilliant facilitators. Our training provides young adults with the skills and confidence to explore these skills, and put them to use in their personal and professional lives.

Each cohort is made up of up to 12 young adults, who meet for two consecutive in-person training days, followed by optional online facilitation skills surgeries. Upon completion of the training, each participant is offered the chance to undertake a one-off paid facilitation placement with the Blue Cabin team.
