Pady O’Connor

Associate Artist

Originally from Manchester Pady O’Connor is an actor, director and international teacher of theatre. He is also the founder and artistic director of MeeMee Theatre, a company that generates worlds of high-quality theatre, workshops and projects that ignite imaginations and create spaces to empower, transform and connect people. MeeMee
Theatre’s work playfully transcends barriers, awakens curiosity and celebrates the beauty of theatre by transforming
spaces and unlocking the imaginations of participants and audiences.

Since starting his creative journey over 22 years ago, Pady has travelled and lived in many different countries,
training with some of the world’s most renowned theatre teachers and companies, honing his passion for mask,
clown, commedia dell’arte, directing and visual theatre, alongside exploring using the physical movement of the body
to tell stories.

As an actor he has found himself on the most incredible stages around the world having performed on Broadway in
New York, at The Market Theatre in Johannesburg, The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and Expo Festival in Zaragoza
Spain, alongside many other theatres both nationally and internationally. Pady was also assistant casting director for
the award-winning movie Billy Elliot.

A huge part of Pady’s creative journey is about legacy, alongside nurturing and sharing with others the skills that he
has learnt throughout his training and performing. As such Pady has been a mentor, director and trainer for creative
companies and organisations regionally, nationally and internationally such as Northern Stage, Newcastle Theatre
Royal Project A, Sage Gateshead, Live Theatre, alongside schools, colleges, universities and drama schools.

Pady has created and directed theatre collaborations with countries such as Brazil; he has travelled to South Africa
many times as part of a project developing theatre, dance, and storytelling in rural villages; and has been part of
theatre exchanges bringing MeeMee Theatres’ unique and playful approaches to people all around the world, including countries such as Sweden, France, and Germany.
