Matt is a psychological therapist accredited both as a therapist and supervisor by the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (BABCP) and as a practitioner by EMDR Europe.
He first trained in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) in 2009 and subsequently worked in primary care services for five years before moving into specialist NHS psychological therapies in 2014, where he continues to work as a therapist, supervisor, and trainer.
For the last five years, Matt has led the anxiety disorders module of the postgraduate diploma in CBT at Newcastle University, where he is extensively involved in training new therapists and supervisors. He has operated a small private practice for the last seven years, more recently becoming involved in the provision of supervision and training.
Matt has been associated with Blue Cabin since 2019, and has provided bespoke training for staff around the principles of attachment theory and trauma, and how to maintain wellbeing as a practitioner working in therapeutic roles. He currently provides regular supervision for Blue Cabin’s Associate Artists.
To those Matt trains and supervises, he is known for his openness and authenticity, and his enthusiasm for helping others to develop and look after themselves better.
Matt is a musician, and a passionate lover of the outdoors and adventure. He is a camper van owner, and an avid hiker, camper and climber.
