Laura is a writer, director and community filmmaker. Her community work encompasses creative documentation and participatory practice. Laura is also the director of Writers’ Block North East (WBNE), a creative organisation that she set up in 2010 to support aspiring novelists into creative careers.
Laura has worked in drama development roles at Kudos Film and TV, RS Productions and the BBC. She has worked as a producer and mentor for Channel 4’s Random Acts scheme and the BFI’s training academies.
She has produced, written and directed more than 20 short films with support from organisations including Channel 4, the National Film and TV School and the UK Film Council. Her films have screened at festivals including the prestigious Palm Springs Shortfest, Aesthetica and the London Film Festival.
Laura is thrilled to be a Blue Cabin Associate Artist, using creativity to bring positive, memorable experiences to care-experienced young people.
