This is the Place provides free weekly music making sessions to foster carers and early years children in Darlington and Redcar & Cleveland. The music leaders, Carol and Katie, guide the sessions using a broad, responsive repertoire, including a range of instruments, puppets and props. This is the place to make music together, but also to build community, share perspectives, and have fun. The project is complemented with a free music making bag which is provided to all participants to continue making music at home, and in placements beyond their initial foster care.

In partnership with Nepacs, Creative Aid supports care experienced young men in HMP Deerbolt to be recognised as artists. Artists’ books and online exhibitions created with visiting artists in residence showcase their work and participants have the opportunity to achieve an Arts Award qualification.

Blue Cabin works in partnership with virtual schools in Darlington, Gateshead and Newcastle. The bespoke projects provide unique, creative experiences which help care experienced children and young people build relationships, learn new skills and be seen, heard and valued.

Creative Life Story Work has an international reach, helping practitioners deliver better life story work for care experienced children and young people. In 2024/25, there were 80,000 views of the website, with people from across the UK, the USA, Ireland, Australia, the Netherlands and many more locations accessing the resources. In addition, more than 700 people and organisations are Creative Life Story Work members, giving them access to all the resources on the website and 12 online Live Classrooms per year.
