We’re so happy to welcome four new people to the Blue Cabin team.
Emon Choudhury, Jane McPhail, Lucinda Fernandes Marvilha and Lumi Ajayi have taken on the new roles of Care Experienced Consultants.
They are employees who will work with Blue Cabin to help improve, challenge, shape and strengthen the work we do.

Emon is an experienced strategy consultant with a track record of driving growth and delivering change across both the public and private sectors, including for FTSE 100 companies. He is passionate about solving complex problems to help mission-driven organisations maximise their impact.
With personal experience of the care system, Emon joined Blue Cabin to share both his expertise and lived experience in support of positive outcomes for young people in care.
In his spare time, he enjoys playing the piano, heading to the gym, and reading books.
Jane began working with young people when she was a young person, aged 16. Since then, she has developed a real passion for grassroots youth work!
She has a BA (Hons) degree in Youth and Community Work, a PGCert in Low Intensity Psychological Interventions and a Diploma in Therapeutic Life Story Work. She is now a certified practitioner in Therapeutic Life Story Work and feels very privileged that she plays a part in young people’s life stories.
She believes identity and individuality are the most interesting part about humans and she really enjoys finding out more about different people! As a Care Experienced Consultant at Blue Cabin, Jane uses her lived experience to consult on various projects and work collaboratively with other professionals.
My name is Lucinda and I am a 27-year-old care leaver with a passion for creativity, so I am delighted to have officially been offered the position of Care Experienced Consultant at Blue Cabin.
I graduated from Sunderland University with a First Class BA (Hons) in Combined Subjects (Dance and Spanish) and achieved Qualified Teacher Status in my Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Primary). I work part time as a private online tutor, and I also get involved with Become (The Charity for Children in Care and Young Care Leavers).
Fun fact: I am trilingual! I am a British citizen of Portuguese heritage, and I am fluent in Spanish too. In my free time, I enjoy doing gym classes, personal training sessions, and walking… Yes, I am THAT person.
Lumi is a medical student at King’s College London and a creative multi-hyphenate. She has been inspired by various artistic cultures to create through crochet, music making, collaging, video editing and more.
Recently, she’s been part of The Science Gallery’s Change Collective and executed an event titled ‘How To Survive/ THRIVE In An Institution’ which culminated in the creation of a zine offering practical tools for young creatives and change makers when navigating work in institutions.
She’s also researched how young Black people use arts-based therapies as a tool to manage their mental well-being resulting in a curated exhibition showcasing the artworks produced by the participants. Lumi hopes to continue exploring the arts and its wider impacts.
