Two new Trustees have been appointed to help guide Blue Cabin’s work. Dr Alexandria Bradley and Adele Brown join the Blue Cabin board from July 2025 and bring with them expertise in trauma-informed practice, education and drama.
We’re so happy to welcome Alexandria and Adele to the Blue Cabin team!
Here’s a bit more about them both.
Alexandria is a senior academic and researcher at Leeds Beckett University. She specialises in therapeutic practice and the implementation of trauma-informed practice. She is a co-lead for the LEAF programme, which is a university education partnership between Leeds Beckett University and HMP Full Sutton. Alexandria leads on the higher education lecture series which is co-designed with learners within the prison. Prior to joining academia, Alexandria worked in prisons providing drug and alcohol programmes and support provision with young men and women.
With a specialism of working with trauma, Alexandria has led qualitative evaluations to examine trauma-responsive programmes and trauma-aware secure environments. Alexandria is currently involved in a co-led research project to better understand Muslim women’s experiences of the criminal justice system in order to advocate for stronger intersectional and culturally informed support. Alexandria has also translated her trauma implementation research into the creation and ongoing review of the pioneering Working with Trauma Quality Mark. This is offered by One Small Thing nationally to services who are keen to build their evidence base of good practice, when working relationally with people who have histories of trauma.
Alexandria joined the board in part because of Blue Cabin’s compassionate values and its commitment to trauma-informed creative work.
In her spare time Alexandria enjoys visiting North East beaches and eating ice cream with friends.
Adele has nearly 20 years of experience in education and is a passionate advocate of the arts and the impact this can make for young people. A drama teacher by trade, and a trained actress, Adele has witnessed first hand the wonderful skills and talents children of all ages can develop when granted access and exposure to creative opportunities.
Now Virtual School Head Teacher for the Local Authority, Adele supports the educational progress, engagement and attainment of children in our care. Adele is driven to use her experience to enhance and develop the outcomes and opportunities for our children and young people.
Adele is a proud Gateshead resident and enjoys spending time in our enriching locality with her two children. She enjoys baking, spending time with her family and singing in her local choir.
Alexandria and Adele join Blue Cabin’s existing board of five Trustees, led by Chair Adam Kent.
