Blue Cabin has been named as a Trinity Champion Centre, recognising our successful delivery of Arts Award – a nationally-recognised accreditation which supports young people to experience the arts and gain new skills.
Blue Cabin specialises in supporting care experienced children and young to achieve Arts Award, as director, Jenny Young, explains: “We’ve been delivering Arts Award since Blue Cabin was founded, nearly 10 years ago, and we love that it’s accessible and that it helps give children and young people a tangible celebration of their learning and creativity.
“Two members of our team are accredited Arts Award advisers and all our associate artists are experts in working alongside care experienced children and young people, so Arts Award is a perfect fit for Blue Cabin.”
Arts Award is a national scheme, managed by Trinity College London in association with Arts Council England. Trinity Champion Centres are recognised for their successful delivery of Arts Award and help to share best practice, share the benefits of Arts Award, and inspire other organisations.
Blue Cabin is a Trinity Champion Centre for 2026/27.
We offer Discover and Explore Arts Award as an optional way for care-experienced children and young people, aged 7-14 years, to gain recognition for their creative learning and progression.
Our Arts Award delivery is trauma-informed and led by Blue Cabin’s two Arts Award advisers, Jane Gray and Amy Armstrong.

Over the last 10 years, Blue Cabin has supported more than 125 children and young people to achieve an Arts Award, including Virtual School pupils across North East England. A staff member from Redcar and Cleveland Virtual School described the impact on their students, saying: “There has been a real development in confidence. Through the use of drama and using the masks to communicate, the children have really been keen to try new activities.”
And children and young people said, “[I have learnt] to express myself through art,” and “I discovered that I had more confidence than I thought.”
