The Barbour Foundation, which backs charities and good causes primarily in the North East of England, has awarded Blue Cabin £10,000 to support the charity’s core costs.
Blue Cabin’s director, Jenny Young, explained how much support from funders including The Barbour Foundation means to the team: “Our funders and supporters all make an enormous difference to us. This strengthens the stability of our charity, and means we can focus on delivering trauma informed creative projects which have a positive impact on the lives of care experienced people.
“We’re incredibly grateful for The Barbour Foundation’s generosity and the belief they have shown in our work.”
In 1988, Dame Margaret Barbour set up The Barbour Trust (now The Barbour Foundation) to support charities and good causes primarily in the North East of England and support research into the causes of chronic illness. To date, the foundation has donated £29 million.
In October 1999, Dame Margaret Barbour set up The Women’s Fund offering support to organisations delivering benefit and social wellbeing to women in the local community.
Dame Margaret also set up The Nancy Barbour Award in recognition of her mother in law’s contribution to the Barbour business. The aim of this award is to help women with disabilities in Tyne & Wear and Northumberland to reach their full potential.
