Support from six different funders has been brought together to enable care-experienced young people from Sunderland to learn new skills in film-making.
The group, who are all members of Sunderland Change Council and are aged from 12 to 18 years, will create a short film together, based on their own ideas and experiences.
They’ll work alongside Blue Cabin Associate Artists to learn about different creative techniques before starting work on their script, storyboard and film-making.
Jenny Young, director of Blue Cabin, said: “The fact that this project has been made possible by such a range of organisations shows just how valuable every contribution is.
“We’re lucky to be supported by a wide variety of funders, ranging from small individual foundations to larger, national organisations and we appreciate every one of them. They all make a difference to the lives of care-experienced children and young people through their generosity.
“This project will not only give young people the opportunity to learn creative skills, it will also allow them to be heard, build friendships, and share their stories in their own way.”
The Alchemy Foundation
The Alchemy Foundation provides grants throughout England and Wales and is chaired by songwriter and lyricist, Sir Richard Stilgoe. It aims to make a lasting difference to young people.

The Margaret and Dorothy Gordon Memorial supports causes via The Community Foundation which, since 1988, has guided effective giving to support causes across Northumberland, Tyne and Wear and the wider region.
The Percy Hedley 1990 Charitable Trust
The Trust provides grants to organisations in Gateshead, Newcastle Upon Tyne, North Tyneside, Northumberland and South Tyneside, which work in a wide range of areas.

Pattinson Estate Agents also provides funding via The Community Foundation.
Sir John Priestman Charity Trust
The Sir John Priestman Charity Trust makes donations to benefit people in County Durham and Sunderland.
Sunderland City Council
The project is also being supported by Sunderland City Council, which delivers children’s services through Together for Children.
