Blue Cabin has been awarded a grant of nearly £4,000 to develop and improve its existing Creative Life Story Work website.
The funding, from The Clothworkers’ Foundation, will allow Blue Cabin to build a new section of the website which will allow people to highlight, or ‘like’ their favourite content, and see life story work resources which are directly relevant to their role – whether they’re a foster carer, a social worker, a therapeutic life story worker, or any other role involved with supporting care-experienced children and young people.
The Clothworkers’ Foundation supports charities and social businesses that work with marginalised and disadvantaged people and communities, and those working towards a more equitable society. Its open grants programme awards funding for capital projects to charities, CICs, and other registered UK not-for-profit organisations.
Jenny Young, Blue Cabin director, said: “We launched our Creative Life Story Work website in 2022 to provide a place where anyone can go to learn about delivering better life story work for care-experienced children and young people.
“Now, we have more than 800 Creative Life Story Work members and this funding will help us to make the website even better, allowing members to save resources they find useful and easily find information that will help them support children and young people to better understand their own life stories.”
The new elements of the website will be reviewed and tested by Blue Cabin’s Care Experienced Consultants – people with lived experience of the care system, who are helping to shape Blue Cabin’s work – to ensure the content meets the needs of care-experienced children and young people and the adults in their lives.
