The Segelman Trust has awarded Blue Cabin a total of £175,000 – including a £15,000 grant to expand its work with newly-arrived refugee and asylum-seeking children and young people. The remaining £160,000 is core funding, to be used over four years.
As Blue Cabin’s director, Jenny Young, explains, The Segelman Trust is a valued, long-term supporter of Blue Cabin’s work.
“We’ve been fortunate to receive core funding from The Segelman Trust in the past and we’re so happy to hear that the trust is granting support to us for another four years. Their approach to funding is one based upon relational practice; their investment in Blue Cabin is wider and deeper than funding alone – we share similar ethos and values and our charity has been strengthened as a result of the belief they have shown us.
“In addition to the core funding – which includes an uplift of £5,000 per year – the ringfenced grant will enable us to develop life story work resources specifically for refugee and asylum-seeking children and young people who have recently arrived in the UK, in partnership with Children and Families Across Borders and Therapeutic Life Story Work International.”
